Some general safety tips for you

1. Never accept sweets or gifts from a stranger.

2. If you get lost or separated from mum/dad or friends, go into a shop and look for help from a shop assistant or someone in authority (Policeman or traffic warden for example).

3. Learn how to make an emergency telephone call.

4. Be aware of strangers hanging around your school, if you suspect something or someone go inside and tell a teacher.

5. Never get into a car or other vehicle with a stranger.

6. Try not to walk home from school or clubs alone, you are safer in groups.

7. If a stranger tries to talk to you, ignore them, walk away and find a 'safe stranger'.

8. If you have a mobile phone don't keep it on display (keep it on silent in your pocket).

9. If you need to use your mobile phone go into a shop.  Do not use it out on the street.

10. Make sure you can remember your address and also your home telephone number.

11. Make sure you know who is picking you up from school and only leave with those people.

12. Understand that there is such a thing as a "safe stranger" (i.e. a shop assistant in a busy shopping centre or a policeman). These people may not be known to you but could be relied upon in times of trouble.

13. NEVER BE AFRAID TO SAY NO TO A STRANGER!
